Scott Campbell is a veteran entrepreneur and executive in the Utility Supply Industry with a long record of involvement and success in many utility industry related ventures. Scott is a past president of the North American Utility Distributors (NAAUD) which was founded as an organization to address industry issues by pooling resource to eliminate redundancies of effort, and share information which might enhance the image of the distributor throughout the electric utility industry. In September of 1988, a Certificate of Incorporation was adopted and hence… the birth of NAAUD.
Scott is a former VP of HD Supply one of the largest industrial distributors in North America providing a broad range of products and value-add services to approximately 500,000 professional customers in maintenance, repair and operations, infrastructure and power and specialty construction sectors.
Scott’s role at HD Supply came about after HD Supply acquired Grafton Utility Supply where Scott was President/Owner.
While technically retired, Scott still services as Vice President of Cam Tran Co., Canada’s fastest growing transformer manufacturer, and is involved in other utility industry initiatives.
Managing Director – EnerTech Capital
Wally Hunter has been investing in energy and clean energy companies and projects for 15 years and runs EnerTech’s Canadian operations from Toronto. His specific areas of interest and responsibility include opportunities in alternative fuels and storage, power quality and conversion, water re-use in energy, Wind turbine technologies, power electronics, advanced materials, motor controls, automation and sensors.Prior to EnerTech, Wally was with Royal Bank of Canada (“RBC”), where he was a Managing Director of the bank’s private equity fund and responsible for the Energy Technology and Advanced Technology Fund. Prior to that Wally was in RBC’s investment banking division (RBC Capital Markets). Wally has an extensive background in the venture capital business which includes a series of successful IPO’s, M&A and turnaround transactions throughout his 20 year career in the finance business.In addition, Wally previously produced and hosted the weekly financial television show “Money Week” which featured over 200 guest interviews from Canadian and U.S. money managers over a 14 year period. Wally was also previously involved in politics and sat as a local Councilor in the town of Milton (3 terms) and on the board of the Ontario College of Pharmacists (Chair of finance).
Wally is currently Chairman of the Banff Venture Forum Cleantech Stream and sits on the board of the Venture Capital Association of Alberta (VCCA). Wally currently sits on the boards of Enbala Power Networks, FilterBoxx and N-Dimension Solutions and managed our successful exit from Catch the Wind (a wind lidar technology).
Wally received a BA from the University of Western Ontario and has completed a number of securities-related courses and programs including the Canadian Securities Institute (CSC program) and Canadian Investment Finance (CIF I, II &III).
Founder & Managing Director – EnerTech Capital
Scott Ungerer has been a visionary and recognized leader in venture capital investing for the traditional and advanced energy sectors for nearly 20 years. He is also one of the few with an extensive and proven investment and management operations history. Currently, Scott specifically looks for opportunities that reduce the cost and/or improve the customer experience related to all aspects of energy supply, delivery and usage. His specific areas of experience, interest and expertise include companies that sell into the following industry sectors: central and distributed power generation; electric transmission; electric, natural gas and/or water distribution; energy management for the customer premise; broadly defined smart grid; and transportation.Scott has worked with more than 15 early-to-mid stage companies providing both strategic and operational guidance and advice as a board member and investor. He currently sits on the boards of The NanoSteel Company (Chairman), Tangent Energy Solutions and N-Dimension Solutions; and is a board advisor to Enbala Power Networks. Scott managed investments in and formerly sat on the boards of Clean Air Power (L:CAP); CURRENT Group; Catalytic Solutions (L:CTSU)- sold; Enerwise – purchased by Comverge, Intellon (NASDAQ: ITLN)- purchased by Atheros/Qualcom, Comverge (NASDAQ: COMV)- purchased by private equity investor, and CoaLogix (NASDAQ: ACORN) – purchased by private equity investor.Scott shares his expertise and viewpoints with the core energy/power industry through participation in a select few organizations: board member of the NIST created Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP), and Chairman of the Executive Committee; member (and former Chairman) of the VC Advisory Board for the National Renewable Energy Lab. He is also a former member of the Battelle Energy Advisory Council and of the Cleantech Venture Network Advisory Board.Prior to EnerTech, Scott spent 16 years in the power industry as an operating executive with Atlantic Energy culminating in his role as one of five senior officers, and as President & COO of the entire set of the company’s non-regulated enterprises.
Scott has been married for 21 years; his wife Lisa formerly worked for the PJM ISO and currently spends her time working as a “life coach” with a wide variety of adults including terminal patients. They have a single daughter, Jessica 18 years old, who is an accomplished student and equestrian.
Scott received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University; he has also attended several graduate level Business, Strategy and Management courses at Wharton.
Chief Technical Officer, AlienVault
Roger Thornton has over 25 years experience developing technologies and helping build technology-related business ventures. He has driven the formation and growth of dozens of companies and products, serving in a wide range of roles from engineering, marketing, and management, to investor/advisor.
At AlienVault, Roger leads the evolution of the company’s strategic technical direction as the security industry evolves and expands. In 2002, Roger founded Fortify Software, successfully achieving product revenues within its first year of operations and launching three award-winning product lines through global distribution within three years of inception. Hewlett-Packard announced acquisition of the company in 2010.
Prior to founding Fortify, Roger spent a decade working with several leading venture capital firms in Silicon Valley. He focused on high impact delivery of technology products and services and guided the successful the launch of several companies.
In the past, Roger has held a management role and made key contributions to market leaders including ETRADE, eBay, Good Technologies, Centerline Software, Apple Computer (Taligent), and Sun Microsystems (JavaSoft).
Roger earned his BS and MS degrees in Engineering with honors at San Jose State University.
President & CEO, UtilAlytics
Mark Munday has more than 30 years of experience as an executive leader of global utility technology companies where he has been instrumental in the creation of long-term strategic direction and driven profitable growth of these entities through transformation, innovation and partner engagement.
Currently at UtilAlytics, Mark offers business management and strategic consulting services to utility-related businesses.
Previously, he was at Elster Group where he served in senior management technology and business roles over a ten-year period. As Group Chief Technology Officer he had responsibility for leading the technology vision, partnership strategies, and execution. As President and CEO of Elster Solutions, he led the formation of its business strategy and oversaw execution of its +$250M utility product and service business.
Prior to Elster, Mark worked for ABB for more than ten years, serving in utility product and technology leadership positions. Previously, he also worked at Westinghouse Electric Corporation in engineering, development and project management roles.
Mark earned his BSEE and completed post-graduate engineering courses at North Carolina State University. He also completed graduate level business management courses at Duke University and University of Pennsylvania.
President, Chief Executive Officer N-Dimension
Tom Ayers joined N-Dimension in October 2014 and has over 35 years of successful leadership in transforming high-tech companies into industry leaders by offering high value products to customers. He is focused on acceleration of sales momentum and building upon the company’s strong technology foundation.
Prior to N-Dimension, Tom served as CEO of Tropos Networks where he led a successful initiative to reposition the company into the expanding smart grid market. This new company direction was a key factor in Tropos being acquired by ABB, a global leader in power and automation technologies, in 2012. Prior to Tropos, Tom held executive positions at McAfee Security and Blue Coat Systems where he drove development of sales and channel strategies.
Mr. Ayers brings more than 30 years of experience in leading and transforming high tech companies into industry leaders. Prior to N-Dimension, he was the CEO of Tropos Networks where he launched the company into the smart grid market and drove its acquisition by ABB, a global leader in power and automation technologies. Previously he was the vice president of worldwide field operations at Blue Coat Systems where he helped lead the company through a significant market transition that resulted in over 3,000 new customers; recognition as number one in market share; and company profitability.
Prior to Blue Coat, Tom led enterprise and SMB sales organizations for McAfee Security division of Network Associates. Earlier in his career, Mr. Ayers held management positions at IBM and Amdahl.
Tom holds a degree in business administration from The University of Texas at Austin.
